What a difference a day makes. There seemed to be a little more oil up front (at least early on) which in turn made it seem like the ball was snapping much harder off of the break point. I started around 22 at the arrows out to about 7-8 with a dull Vendetta Maxx. The extra surface on the ball really opened up the break point down the lane and allowed me to trust that the ball would always read the mid lane. That lasted for about 2 games(191-219) before I switched to a 357 Magnum. The ball read the lane great but wasn't hitting that well. I only stuck with this ball for about a game before I switched to a Black Vendetta which I used for the rest of the block. I shot 188-223 games 3 and 4 before major transition in the 5th game. The lanes seemed to hold up really well for about 4 games. I'm not sure who started on my 5th pair but starting with that game, I had to throw the ball much more sideways through the front to get it to skid through consistently. I opened 4 out of the first 5 frames in the 5th game (54 in the 5th...sweet). I felt like I was in jail as my ball would not stay off the head pin if I threw it how I wanted to, but if I got it to the right a little too fast it would never hook. At this point I was crossing around 28 at the arrows out to around 10-11. The front part of the lane was just hooking way too much. I moved my eyes to 26 and tried to get the ball to around 6-7. Once I opened up my angle through the front then I was able to see the lane again. I only shot 150 in game 5 but shot 655 (196-234-225) my last 3.
I executed much better today even though I butchered a lot of my games. I was 22 over after 4 today compared to 130 under yesterday. I threw only 3 or 4 shots out the window (missed the headpin to to the right) as opposed to 2 a game yesterday. I focused mainly on my start today which, for the most part, fixed the timing problem I was fighting yesterday. Hopefully I can carry this feeling over into Tour Trials.
